9 flagged ingredients.
Avoid first. Each flag costs points in the score above; where a flag has an entry behind it, it links to the evidence.
BHA (preservative)
A preservative flagged as a possible carcinogen in animal studies; many brands have dropped it.
Added sugar
A sweetener with no nutritional job; it adds calories and nothing else.
Propylene glycol
A humectant banned in cat food for red-blood-cell effects; purely textural in dog products.
Liver (species not named)
The label does not say which animal the liver comes from.
Animal fat
Rendered fat from unnamed species, and the ingredient where BHA most often hides.
Garlic
An allium that damages red blood cells at high doses; flavoring amounts are considered safe, but cats and some breeds are more sensitive.
Artificial colors
Dyes that exist to sell the food to you; your pet does not care what color it is.
Smoke flavor
A flavoring made from condensed wood smoke. In 2023 EFSA found genotoxic substances in most of the eight smoke flavorings on the EU market, and the EU has since withdrawn all eight; the label doesn't say which flavoring this is.
Natural flavor
An undisclosed blend. Not harmful per se, but it hides what your pet is actually tasting.

The brand behind it.
Canine Carry Outs
Graded from the 1 product of theirs in this catalogue, not from an audit of the company.
Read off the 1 of 1 carry unnamed by-products, meat meal or unnamed animal fat, and 1 add colour among the 1 panel we hold. Seeing that once is evidence of a practice; a clean panel once is not. The D grade takes 8 points off this product's score.
Canine Carry Outs brand pageIndependent testing & contaminants
No independent testing on file.
Third-party lab findings for things that never appear on an ingredient label. This is separate from the score above and does not change it.
We haven't found published third-party lab results (PFAS, heavy metals, phthalates) for this product. That is not a clean bill of health, just an absence of data.

- Oct 24, 2026 Moved from Dog Food to Treats & Chews. The score did not change and the web address did not change. Its label calls them “dog snacks”, and Canine Carry Outs sells them as soft and chewy dog treats. They are a treat, not a food.
- Oct 24, 2026 Panel Score 48 → 40: added cautions for Animal fat and Smoke flavor. The panel lists “Animal fat (bha used as a preservative)”. Until October 24, 2026 our library read a line like that as the preservative alone; a fat that names no animal and the BHA that preserves it are two things we flag, so the line now raises both. It also lists “Natural smoke flavor”. In 2023 the European Food Safety Authority found genotoxic substances in most of the eight smoke flavorings on the EU market, and the EU has since withdrawn all eight, so since October 24, 2026 a smoke flavor reads as a caution of its own. We used to read it as a neutral flavoring.
- Oct 16, 2026 “BHA and BHT” is now “BHA (preservative)”, and “Meat by-products” is now “Liver (species not named)”. The score did not change. The panel lists BHA and no BHT. Its by-products flag rested on a line that says only “Liver”, while its chicken by-product meal names its animal, so that flag now says what the line leaves out, as it has on five other records since September 2026.
- Sep 21, 2026 Panel Score 51 → 48: brand transparency grade set to D. We graded every brand in the catalogue from its own panels. Canine Carry Outs was ungraded, and the formula scores an ungraded brand as a C, so the grade moved the number.
