Save it to your pantry and the pantry page flags it if it turns up in an FDA recall we import.
It adds up, line by line.
Every product starts at 96. Flags, the brand's transparency grade and any recall linked to this product take points away. Nothing else moves the number, and no brand can pay to move it.

Good, check the flags

3 flagged ingredients.
Avoid first. Each flag costs points in the score above; where a flag has an entry behind it, it links to the evidence.
Added sugar
A sweetener with no nutritional job; it adds calories and nothing else.
Smoke flavor
A flavoring made from condensed wood smoke. In 2023 EFSA found genotoxic substances in most of the eight smoke flavorings on the EU market, and the EU has since withdrawn all eight; the label doesn't say which flavoring this is.
Added color
Color added for the buyer's eye, not a synthetic dye; your pet does not care what color it is.
Every ingredient, top to bottom.

The brand behind it.
Rachael Ray Nutrish
Mainstream 'real chicken first' line that still leans on soybean meal and corn; colored with annatto rather than synthetic dye.
Names its meat sources on the panel. The B grade takes 2 points off this product's score.

No independent testing on file.
Third-party lab findings for things that never appear on an ingredient label. This is separate from the score above and does not change it.
We haven't found published third-party lab results (PFAS, heavy metals, phthalates) for this product. That is not a clean bill of health, just an absence of data.

- Oct 24, 2026 Panel Score 86 → 82: added a caution for Added color, and “Natural flavor” is now “Smoke flavor”. The panel lists “Annatto extract”, a color made from achiote seeds. Until October 24, 2026 our library read annatto as Added color only when the label called it a color; it now reads every annatto line that way, as its Added color entry already describes it. The natural flavor caution rested only on “Natural smoke flavor”. Smoke flavor now reads as a caution of its own, not as a natural flavor: in 2023 the European Food Safety Authority found genotoxic substances in most of the eight smoke flavorings on the EU market, and the EU has since withdrawn all eight.
- Sep 22, 2026 “Corn syrup” is now “Added sugar”. The score did not change. The panel lists sugar, not corn syrup.
- Sep 21, 2026 Panel Score 90 → 86: added a caution for Corn syrup. The printed panel lists it and our record was not carrying the flag.
