Save it to your pantry and the pantry page flags it if it turns up in an FDA recall we import.
It adds up, line by line.
Every product starts at 96. Flags, the brand's transparency grade and any recall linked to this product take points away. Nothing else moves the number, and no brand can pay to move it.

5 flagged ingredients.
Avoid first. Each flag costs points in the score above; where a flag has an entry behind it, it links to the evidence.
Animal fat
Rendered fat from unnamed species, and the ingredient where BHA most often hides.
Meat and bone meal
An unnamed-mammal protein with high bone content; the least transparent protein you can buy.
Meat flavor and digest
A rendered palatant from animal tissue; the vaguer the name, the less you know.
Menadione (vitamin K3)
A synthetic vitamin K linked to liver stress in high doses; safer natural forms exist.
Artificial colors
Purely cosmetic. Your pet doesn't care what color the food is; dyes add risk with zero benefit.

Third-party lab findings for things that never appear on an ingredient label. This is separate from the score above and does not change it.
We haven't found published third-party lab results (PFAS, heavy metals, phthalates) for this product. That is not a clean bill of health, just an absence of data.

- Oct 24, 2026 “Unnamed animal ingredients” is now “Animal fat”. The score did not change. “Unnamed animal ingredients” was a flag of our own for lines that don't say which animal they come from. We retired it on October 24, 2026 for the entries our library has for those lines, each counted once. “Meat and bone meal” already carried Meat and bone meal. “Animal fat preserved with mixed-tocopherols” is Animal fat. Its poultry by-product meal and ocean fish meal name the kind of animal but not the species, and our library flags neither.
- Oct 4, 2026 Panel Score 75 → 71: added a caution for Menadione (vitamin K3). The panel lists “menadione sodium bisulfite complex” inside its vitamin line. Until October 4, 2026 we read that whole line as a vitamin premix, so the record was not carrying the flag.
- Sep 22, 2026 Removed the “BHA (preservative)” flag. Panel Score 59 → 75. The panel we hold lists no BHA; its fat is animal fat preserved with mixed tocopherols. The flag had been carried over from an earlier summary of this panel.
- Sep 21, 2026 Panel Score 67 → 59: added flags for Meat and bone meal and Meat flavor and digest. The printed panel lists it and our record was not carrying the flag.
