- Natural does not mean inert. Citrus oils (d-limonene), pine, and several other essential oils are documented irritants and, at concentration, toxins in cats specifically. Blend components are often unlisted, so the same disclosure problem as synthetic fragrance applies.
- Interactions and who should be careful
- Cats metabolize phenolic and terpene compounds poorly. Any essential-oil product used around cats deserves a second look, especially diffused or leave-on products.
