Flags-4 points in all

1 flagged ingredient.

Avoid first. Each flag costs points in the score above; where a flag has an entry behind it, it links to the evidence.

Caution-4

Synthetic fabric

Synthetic fibers shed microplastics, and a pet lies on this fabric and many lick or chew it; what that means for a pet's health is still an open question, and cotton, hemp, linen and wool avoid it.

ATransparency

Ruffwear

Harnesses, leashes, beds, raincoats and outdoor dog gear, plus toys. Graded from what the product pages state, not from an audit of the company.

Names every material by part, with fabric weight and recycled content, and says where most of its gear is made. The A grade takes nothing off this product's score.

Independent testing & contaminants

No independent testing on file.

Third-party lab findings for things that never appear on an ingredient label. This is separate from the score above and does not change it.

We haven't found published third-party lab results (PFAS, heavy metals, phthalates) for this product. That is not a clean bill of health, just an absence of data.

What we look for

This page was corrected once.

  • Oct 26, 2026 Panel Score 96 → 92: added a caution for Synthetic fabric. The panel lists “150D polyester suede” for the upper and “300D polyester” for the base. Since October 26, 2026 a synthetic fiber in the cover of a bed or in a blanket, the fabric a pet lies on, kneads, licks or chews, reads as a caution of its own, Synthetic fabric: synthetic fibers shed microplastics, and what that means for a pet’s health is still an open question. The polyester fill inside isn’t counted, and the upper’s water-repellent finish is nonfluorinated, so it carries no flag.

Holding the package and it reads differently? Disputes come straight to us, and any score we change is logged publicly on the corrections page.
