Why 8696 to start

It adds up, line by line.

Every product starts at 96. Flags, the brand's transparency grade and any recall linked to this product take points away. Nothing else moves the number, and no brand can pay to move it.

Flags-8 points in all

2 flagged ingredients.

Avoid first. Each flag costs points in the score above; where a flag has an entry behind it, it links to the evidence.

Caution-4

Added sugar

A sweetener with no nutritional job; it adds calories and nothing else.

Caution-4

Natural flavor

An undisclosed blend. Not harmful per se, but it hides what your pet is actually tasting.

Independent testing & contaminants

No independent testing on file.

Third-party lab findings for things that never appear on an ingredient label. This is separate from the score above and does not change it.

We haven't found published third-party lab results (PFAS, heavy metals, phthalates) for this product. That is not a clean bill of health, just an absence of data.

  • Oct 24, 2026 “Meat flavor and digest” is now “Natural flavor”. The score did not change. The panel prints “Natural Bacon Flavor”. Until October 24, 2026 our library read a natural flavor that names a meat or fish as a meat flavor and digest; it now reads every “natural … flavor” line as a natural flavor, except smoke flavor, which has an entry of its own.
  • Oct 16, 2026 Panel Score 90 → 86: added a caution for Added sugar. The panel lists honey. Honey is an added sugar (FDA's definition of added sugars names it), so since October 16, 2026 it reads as Added sugar in anything a pet eats. We used to read it as a neutral sweetener.
  • Sep 22, 2026 Replaced the summary panel with the ingredient list the brand publishes on its website. Panel Score 94 → 90: added a caution for Meat flavor and digest. The earlier panel was written from a search summary in July 2026 and had not been checked. The new list comes from the brand's own website, checked on September 22, 2026.
