Liver from chickens, one of the densest natural sources of vitamin A, iron, copper, and B vitamins.
Watched ingredients get highlighted on every product panel you open.
- Where it comes from
- Poultry processing. Often freeze-dried or spray-dried for treats, where a little goes a long way on flavor.
- Why it's in the product
- Nutrient density and extreme palatability. Cats in particular will eat almost anything with liver on it.
- Safety and toxicity
- Safe in the small proportions used in commercial food. Liver-heavy homemade diets fed long term can cause vitamin A toxicity, but you would have to feed liver as a staple, not as an ingredient.
- Interactions and who should be careful
- Rich for pets with sensitive stomachs when it appears high on a treat panel. Not a concern in a complete food.
