It adds up, line by line.
Every product starts at 96. Flags, the brand's transparency grade and any recall linked to this product take points away. Nothing else moves the number, and no brand can pay to move it.

1 flagged ingredient.
Avoid first. Each flag costs points in the score above; where a flag has an entry behind it, it links to the evidence.
Undisclosed material
The maker doesn't say what this part is made of, so there is nothing to look up; the flag is about the missing name, not a known hazard.

The brand behind it.
PrettyLitter
Color-changing crystal litter for health monitoring; unscented, dust-light amorphous silica gel.
Names its material (amorphous silica gel, distinct from crystalline silica) but keeps the health-indicator formula proprietary. The B grade takes 2 points off this product's score.
PrettyLitter brand pageIndependent testing & contaminants
No independent testing on file.
Third-party lab findings for things that never appear on an ingredient label. This is separate from the score above and does not change it.
We haven't found published third-party lab results (PFAS, heavy metals, phthalates) for this product. That is not a clean bill of health, just an absence of data.

- Oct 16, 2026 Panel Score 94 → 90: added a caution for Undisclosed material. Until October 16, 2026 we read “Proprietary health-indicating formula” as a marketing claim. It is an additive PrettyLitter doesn't name, so it now carries the caution for a material the maker doesn't name, which is about the missing name, not a known hazard. The “amorphous silica gel” line now has its own entry, Silica gel litter, instead of sharing the one for clay litter dust.
