Why 8696 to start

It adds up, line by line.

Every product starts at 96. Flags, the brand's transparency grade and any recall linked to this product take points away. Nothing else moves the number, and no brand can pay to move it.

Flags-8 points in all

2 flagged ingredients.

Avoid first. Each flag costs points in the score above; where a flag has an entry behind it, it links to the evidence.

Caution-4

Synthetic toy materials

Hard nylon abrades into tiny plastic particles as an aggressive chewer works it, and those particles are swallowed; natural-material chews avoid the synthetic-polymer exposure.

Caution-4

Very hard material

Harder than tooth enamel; veterinary dentists link very hard chews to slab fractures, so it's best for gentle chewers.

Benebone

Ergonomic nylon chews flavored with real bacon, chicken, or peanut; made in the USA.

Names its USA-sourced nylon and real-food flavors; durable but very hard, a known fracture caveat. The B grade takes 2 points off this product's score.

Independent testing & contaminants

No independent testing on file.

Third-party lab findings for things that never appear on an ingredient label. This is separate from the score above and does not change it.

We haven't found published third-party lab results (PFAS, heavy metals, phthalates) for this product. That is not a clean bill of health, just an absence of data.

  • Oct 18, 2026 Replaced the summary panel with the materials list Benebone publishes on its website. The page now shows Panel Score 86 instead of Not enough data. “Sheds microplastics” is now “Synthetic toy materials”. The earlier panel was written from a search summary in July 2026 and had not been checked. Benebone's product page, checked on October 17, 2026, says “Ingredients: Nylon and Real Bacon.” The nylon keeps its caution, under the name our library gives it, “Synthetic toy materials”; the record had stored it under an older name.
